That is a great abstract with a wonderful range of tonality. I look forward to your images every week. Where did you find this?

This is a detail from the lava fields on the Big Island of Hawaii. My son and I went there two weeks ago for a visit and took many photos. Most of them are featured on my related photoblog, Aloha Photo.

What a wonderful capture. Looks like an abstract or a sculpture.

As always, an image that intrigues and delights at the same time.

My several thoughts on what it looks like... Old skin, rock, lava rock, tree root, concrete. It's so fascinating to look at. Great range of tones.

I love the lines and the smoothness of something that looks like it should be rough. I also like the almost-but-not-quite black and white.

Hi Jeff - Great photo of pahoehoe! I like how you captured the smooth as well as the ropey surface of the lava. I've really enjoyed looking at the different photos you took during your trip to the Big Island.
